Kurta length affects overall proportion far more than most people initially expect, and getting it right relative to your own height and whatever bottoms you plan to pair it with can genuinely transform how balanced and considered the finished outfit ultimately looks in person, well beyond the mirror at home.

A shorter kurta, ending around the hip, tends to suit pairing with fitted bottoms like churidars or slim trousers, since it shows off the leg line rather than obscuring it entirely under excess fabric hanging too low against the body itself throughout the entire day and long evening ahead.

A longer kurta, falling closer to the knee or below it, generally pairs better with looser bottoms such as palazzo pants or a simple salwar, where the proportions between a longer top and a fuller bottom balance one another out visually rather than competing for attention or looking mismatched, awkward or unbalanced.
