How Silk Blends Differ from Pure Silk
Launch library · evergreen read

Silk blends combine silk fibre with another material, commonly cotton, viscose or a synthetic fibre, to reduce cost and change the fabric's behaviour in ways that can genuinely suit certain garments better than pure silk alone would on its own merits, particularly for everyday pieces.
Pure silk offers unmatched sheen, drape and a distinctive natural temperature regulating quality, but it comes with a higher price and generally needs more careful handling during both wear and cleaning than most people are prepared to commit to for everyday garments worn frequently throughout a busy week.
Blends can offer more durability and easier care, sometimes at the cost of some of silk's natural lustre and fluid drape, depending on exactly what the fibre is blended with and in what proportion. Reading a fabric label carefully before buying remains the only reliable way to know precisely what you are actually purchasing and taking home.
