Jhumkas come in such a wide range of sizes that proportion, more than style, usually decides whether a pair genuinely suits you or not. Smaller, rounder faces often benefit from jhumkas with some length, since the vertical line elongates the face gently rather than adding width right at the jaw.
Longer face shapes, on the other hand, tend to look more balanced in wider, rounder jhumka designs, which soften the vertical line rather than extending it even further. Angular jaw lines generally pair well with rounded jhumka bells, since the curve offers a pleasing contrast against sharper, more defined facial features.
Weight matters just as much as shape when choosing a pair. A jhumka that is genuinely comfortable for hours of wear, rather than merely striking in a mirror for five minutes, is the one that will actually get worn again. Try earrings on late in the day if possible, when ears tend to feel more tired.
