Removing Turmeric and Oil Stains from Festive Wear
Launch library · evergreen read

Turmeric and oil stains are practically inevitable around haldi functions and festive cooking, and speed matters far more than the specific product used to treat them. Acting within the first hour, before the stain sets fully into the fibre, dramatically improves the odds of a full recovery, especially on lighter coloured fabric that shows marks easily.
Blot rather than rub, since rubbing pushes both turmeric pigment and oil deeper into the weave instead of lifting them out cleanly. A gentle dab with a clean cloth, followed by a specialist stain treatment suited to the fabric type, gives the best chance of success before any home remedy is even attempted.
For delicate or expensive fabric, resist the urge to fully treat the stain yourself at home. A professional cleaner familiar with silk, zari and embellished garments has tools and experience that home treatments simply cannot match, and a fresh stain taken to them promptly is far easier to resolve than one left to set.
