Climate has a genuine impact on how festive outfits should be stored, since humidity encourages mould, mildew and fabric degradation, while overly dry conditions can make certain fibres brittle over time, which means the right storage approach depends considerably on the specific conditions of wherever the garments are actually kept.
In humid climates, airtight storage without proper desiccants can trap moisture rather than exclude it, so breathable garment bags combined with moisture absorbing packets tend to work better than fully sealed containers, allowing some airflow while still actively managing the ambient humidity level inside the storage space over time.
In drier climates, the primary concern shifts toward preventing fabric from becoming brittle or losing natural oils, particularly in silk and other delicate natural fibres, where occasional gentle airing helps maintain a healthier long term balance, and few people regret the extra care taken, something worth asking about before committing to a purchase.
