Understanding Bangles: Metal, Glass and Their Differences
Launch library · evergreen read

Bangles come in such a wide variety of materials that the choice can feel surprisingly overwhelming at first, though understanding a few key differences makes selecting the right set considerably easier for any given occasion. Metal bangles, whether gold, silver or an alloy, tend to be the most durable option, able to withstand daily wear without much risk of damage.
Glass bangles offer a distinctive, delicate sound and a particular shine that metal simply cannot replicate, though their fragility means they are generally better suited to festive occasions than genuinely everyday wear where breakage is a real, ongoing risk. Lac and resin bangles sit somewhere in between, offering colour and lightness with a bit more durability than glass alone.
Mixing materials within a single stack, rather than choosing only one type, can create genuinely interesting texture and visual contrast against the wrist. A few metal bangles combined thoughtfully with glass or lac pieces often looks considerably more layered and intentional than a uniform stack of identical bangles.
